Description

This is first real attempt at astrophotography. I took the images from my backyard in Lakewood Colorado, just west of Denver. On the Bortle scale, I would rate it at 7. I chose Capella only because it happened to be an easy target for practice at the time. I have had this telescope and equipment for less that six months, so I am very much in a learning stage.

Here's my equipment:
  • Meade LX200 ACF 10" SCT
  • TCF-Leo Focuser
  • ASI Filter Wheel
  • ASI 1600MM Camera
  • TheSky Fusion to integrate the equipment

Exposures were all 7 seconds with 21 shots for each of the LRGB filters. Calibration frames were also taken. Obviously, Capella is overexposed even at this short exposure time. There must be ways to compensate besides exposure time (gain for instance), but TheSky only seems to offer two options for gain.

For post-processing, I used AstroPixel Processor, also for the first time.

I have much to learn.
