IC 4592: The Blue Horsehead Nebula
This project was shot over three nights back in August last year.
I managed to pick up a lot of the background dust which I didn't know I had photographed it until I took back the first set of data the next morning. I did initially think that it was clouds, but when I started processing it, it eventually revealed itself to me, which I was very happy about.
Also in this image is Comet C/2017 K2 (Panstarrs), which I also didn't know I had imaged it until the next morning. I was very surprised that I imaged it as I didn't even know that there was a comet near the Blue Horsehead Neubla at the time of imaging.
Over the next two nights after my first night, I managed to crank up the total exposure time to 4 and a half hours, which is now my longest ever integration time. I would love to add more to it this year when this beautiful region of the universe gets high enough in the sky. I might even use my Canon 6Da next time to try and pickup some of the hidden Ha singal that is present in the background.
