I took this over a year ago and have debated whether to post as I am not all that happy with this image.  This was a very ambitious first attempt at a 16 panel mosaic to capture Barnards Loop.  After multiple attempts to combine my 16 panels, I realized the problem was with my captured images.  I used ASIAir's Mosaic, which is really good once you figure out how to use it.  I believe my big mistake was not setting the overlap high enough.  I have read, most recommend at least a 35% overlap, but I think mine was more like 15%.  The problem with a low overlap is if you have any vignetting and need to crop the image, you need a large overlap.   Because I did have to crop a bit, I was disappointed that I did not capture the whole loop.  I want to try this again this year and almost waiting on posting this image, but I thought I would get this out and possibly get advice from others on how to capture a mosaic this large.

What make this hard, or at least for me, my first few attempts looked like 16 panels as they did not mess well together.  There is so much nebulosity in this area that is hard to use any light pollution or DBE correction.

The interesting thing about this image, on some on my other wide field camera lens captures I cautioned the image looked better from a far than close up.  However, I actually think this image look much better when you zoom in than the wide field view looks.  Please zoom in and let me know what you think.

Not sure there is a whole lot I can say about this area that most already do not know.  However, what I did find out from a little research is that Barnard's Loop is in the Inner Orion Spur and is named after the pioneering Astro photographer Edward Emerson Barnard.  Barnard documented the gas cloud in 1894 and is thought to have originated from a supernova two million years ago. The stars AE Aurigae, Mu Columbae, and 53 Arietis are believed to have been byproducts of the supernova.  It estimated to be 1,600 light years away and 300 light years across.
