Description

M66 had generational process quite similar to that of M65 in that it started life in 2005 as a short exposure/unguided project to later evolve into a long exposure/guided one. One difference here is that the galaxy is intrinsically brighter that its closest member of the Leo Triplet and therefore it is easier to capture enough colour data (and possibly because is more colour-rich too) to bring those colours out. I also had the good sense to capture enough H-alpha data to bring out the HII regions in the galaxy's arms. Finally, and more important lesson, the colour and luminance total integrations are better balanced than M65 and therefore it easier to produce a better L-RGB image.
