Description

Tried a different approach on a Stellina 900 lights/300 darks APP stack and did some processing in APP before opening in PI. Used APP calibrate background (which got rid of a green cast), applied calibrate star colors and saved several versions of the BG/sigma/base presets (10-3-00, 10-3-25, 10-5-00). Opened the 10-3-00 tiff in PI. ABE subtraction evened out the background except for strips at top right and lower left edges. Applied BXT sharpen non-stellar 0.30 (with no sharpen stars). Applied NXT denoise 0.80/detail 0.15. Applied Canon Banding Reduction. Used StarNet2 to create starmask and starless images. Starmask: Correct Magenta Stars 0.60, SCNR Green 1.00, Curves Transformation to increase saturation. Starless: Clone Stamp to correct strips at top right/lower left edges, Color Saturation/Curves Transformation to temper the pink hue in the galaxy and enhance the blue a bit, SCNR Green 0.50, Curves Transformation RGB/K to darken background, Range Mask/Curves Transformation to reduce background saturation, Pixel Math to recombine starless and starmask, Fast Rotation horizontal mirror, Correct Magenta Stars 0.30, save as xisf file, Image Analysis-Image Solver (search M101 for coordinates, resolution 1.23931, pixel size 1.236), Render-Annotate Image, Astrometry-Finding Chart.Using APP calibrate background allowed me to retain a larger field of view. I had to crop more when I did all the editing in PI. Next, I want to do only the background calibration in APP and try a color calibration in PI.
