Description

I was hoping to image the Atlas comet but the clouds and time thought differently. So, I settled for Panstarrs, C/2017 T2. This was my first ...and may be my last attempt at animating a comet's track but t'was fun trying.

First and foremost I want to thank Chuck Ayoub for his tutorial on "How to Animate and Process a Comet" More than likely I would not have made this attempt without his help. All in all I took 300, 30 second images and stacked 3 at a time. (I did use Pixinsight's "integration" tool instead of "Deep Sky Stacker") ..I made a few other changes as i was using a ASI183MC-C and needed to debayer and color calibrate. For the most part I followed his tutorial. I should have pulled the "Hyperstar" and reducer to get the maximum focal length but was too lazy, plus my guiding has been less that great and I knew, at a higher focal length my stars would look worse than they do.

As they say, it is what it is!
