Heart of the Heart - Melotte 15 - SHO

The beautiful Heart Nebula in SHO. Part of my original mosaic project where I was looking to frame the entire heart, turns out, mosaics are a little harder than I expected. By hard, I think I mean they require a lot of time! Went for heavy color and saturation in this version, but the raw SHO combinations also look beautiful. I felt like some of the magenta stars in this image added to the high saturation theme, meh, kinda fun.

This one was pre-processed with bias frames, but I will not be doing that from here on out. Seems to align with what everyone else is saying, they don't help, and in my tests, actually seem to hurt my dynamic range. Dark flats certainly do help however.

Still feel like my processing is not doing my data justice...

I don't think FWHM was very good on this shot. 10 minutes seems to be pushing the AVX mount for average seeing days in the city. However, my AVX mount in dark sky on a below average seeing nights can easily run 0.75 seconds all night long with multi-star guiding on the ASIAIR. The problem is that stabilization after dither can take 5 minutes sometimes, that is a lot of wasted time.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
