Description

Ha 120x300 sec; Sii 95x300 sec; Oiii 95x300 sec;  0 gain.

NGC 6910, the “Inchworm Cluster” (also known as the Rocking Horse Cluster) and NGC6913, (M29), the “Cooling Tower Cluster” (Little Sisters) in Sadr.  This and the Sagittarius are presently my favorite regions but ask me in a few months as my list will probably grow.

A mosaic in 4 panels (but I could have accomplished in 3 if I did a better job determining the coordinates).  I used a 50/50 combination of SHO and FouraxX palettes to give better star color (without blending RGB stars) and to bring out the dark dust lanes.  I’ve come to the conclusion that with narrowband the possibilities are endless, but figured I had to finally draw a line in the sand.  I may revisit the palettes to enhance the Oiii (bluish) areas…or not.  I do like the subtleness of the Oiii in this image.  Due to the brightness of Sadr, I used zero gain and was surprised by how little noise in the integrated masters.  I only used Topaz slightly: 5 noise reduction, zero sharpness, 5 recover original detail and zero color noise reduction.  I did not use any of my usual noise reduction processes in Pix.

Description: I had so much fun learning how to process this image that I had to start all over again. I went for a bit more dramatic result in this reprocessed version. Processing again was also lots of fun. My wife just yelled, "time to get up from the computer!"
