M33 (Cropped from Wide Field)

Revision title: M33 Triangulum

This imaging session was performed on 11/6/20 and I used my FSQ-130ED at prime focus which resulted in a focal length of 650 mm. I guided with a 60 mm scope and a ZWO camera and used PHD2 and APT software for the acquisition of the images. My image camera was a Canon Ra and I did use a Skytech LPRO-MAX filter. Twenty images were captured at ISO800 for 360 seconds each.

I posted an image of this galaxy a while back but recently I started using different techniques in the post processing phase and did not use as aggressive steps as I had been using. Also, I used Starnett ++ to remove the stars and then made a layer in Photoshop to add these stars back in. I was always blowing out the stars when I stretched my images prior to using this method. The galaxy now appears to have more structure and I used very small post processing steps to leave the structure there. Prior to this, the structure was ruined due to over processing.

I have since deleted the earlier processing attempts of M33 since I goofed on not checking on the "Final Image" button thus making my earlier image my final. I will have to keep my eye on this in the future as I think it defaults to final in the posting process.

Description: I realized that the star field was off in my last submittal of this image. I am new to using Starnet ++ and probably cropped the image somewhat and forgot to crop the "star field" the same. If you look at the star field in my first image you can see that the stars are way off. Anyway....I added more masking layers this time to accentuate the nebulae in the arms.

Description: This is the latest revision of the same data. This was stacked via WBPP in Pixinsight and also processed with Russell Croman's new tools. I did use Photoshop for some minor tweaks. I am a member of Adam Block's website and learning my way through Pixinsight since it such a powerful program.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
