Description

Searching the offline sky map in NINA I came across SH2-312 which I have subsequently discovered also goes by the name 'The (Great) Pyxis Nebula'. The structure of the Ha looked quite appealing even on the offline sky map so  I decided to point my Redcat 51 at this pointy looking object. There is a lot more to this nebula but unfortunately I could only include the 'pointy end'  in the fov with the ASI533mmpro.
OIII was extremely faint so I didn't include this in the processing as it would have been totally overrun by the Ha.
This is an HaRGB image with the Ha applied to the red channel using Pixelmath. The Ha was also used as the luminance.
At some stage I would like to image  SH2-312 again to include the rest of the structure, but for now, the pointy end will do (I wonder how many times I said pointy
There do not seem to be that many images of this on Astrobin.
