Description

On the 6th November 2021 I was taking some pictures of IC 1805 or commonly known as the Heart Nebula. After looking at my first shots prior to stacking, I noticed a bright, small dot moving across the images. I quickly realized that was not an artifact, but a comet or asteroid. Therefore, I looked for the identity of that minor object with Cartes du Ciel and later to JPL Minor body database, which confirmed the presence of the asteroid Notburga.

This asteroid is ~70 km wide and it can be found in the asteroid belt. Its period is 4 eyars. The magnitude was 12. The gif is a composition of all my lights in RAW data, and cropped/zoomed in to give a better perspective of that incredible body moving across the sky.

It was an unintentional finding and I am very happy to have found a minor body in this way!
