Description

This object is a spiral galaxy located 60 million light years away in the constellation of Coma Berenices at a declination of +31 degrees. This 10.1 magnitude galaxy has a surface brightness of 12.8 and spans 5 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to an actual diameter of 100,000 light years.

The galaxy disk appears diffuse, with a very faint outer disk and a bright core. The disk is flocculent in nature, with dust lanes that are distinct but not continuous. I like how the blue middle disk regions contrasts with the yellow central region.

Numerous small galaxies are visible in the background, especially in the upper left and lower right corners.
