Description

M1, the Crab Nebula in Taurus. Hampered a bit by subpar seeing, this was an attempt at combining narrowband and broadband images. An HOO narrowband blend was augmented with an RGB stack, in order to bring out the diffuse broadband glow from the center. Synthetic superluminance created from Ha augmented with Oiii, R, G, and B, and the chrominance of the Ha star profiles was replaced with that from the RGB stars. Not quite as sharp a result as I would have liked, but you can see the vertical plume of Oiii, as well as I think the central pulsar itself (lower right of the small double in the center).

Ha 13 x 900s, Oiii 8 x 900s, RGB 10 x 240s each.

ASI6200MM, gain 100, offset 50 @ -10C

Processed in PixInsight, final color tweaks in PS
