Like last year, Santa came with a present for Christmass Eve, two consecutive clear nights with very god weather conditions (no wind and low humidity), but very cold., -11C the first night and -8 the second.
December has been very generous with clear nights (4 nights!). Two of them went wrong unfortunately (the 16th and 26th), one because I used the Optolong L-enhance instead of IDAS D2 and one because thin passing clouds destroyed the majority of the subs.
Optolong L-enhance is a very god filter, but it seems that LED-lights are causing terrible gradients with this filter and they are very hard to remove.

The 24th and 25th I collected subs of the Tadpole nebula and Flaming Star nebula. 104 subs for the Tadpole and 91 of them were god enough to stack.
No flats were used,; the day after I couldn’t manage to take proper flats despite same everything was used as usual, 1sec or 0.8sec exposure was too short and wide bands formed on the images.
When I came back with a white t-shirt, I discovered that condensation was present on the inside of my telescope’s biggest lens and smallest one, so no flats could be taken cause the (frozen) condensation was visible in the frames. It never happened before. Did anyone have this problem? My scope is always out, but well sheltered.
Fortunately the low humidity the night I collected the subs helped a lot and no gradients at all were visible. No dust dots were visible either.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
