Description

Hickson 50 Reportedly the faintest, most challenging of the Hickson catalogue at magnitude 18/19 and 2 BILLION light years away. Amazing that light has taken 2 billion years to travel from these 6 galaxies to reach my camera. Captured from my light polluted garden in North London on the night of a full moon too.

The Owl Nebula (M97) is a planetary nebula approximately 2,030 light years away in Ursa Major and is about 8,000 years old. It was formed from the outflow of material from the stellar wind of the central star. The 14th magnitude central star is condensing to form a white dwarf.
