Description

Starting August 10th I started a 2 panel RGBL mosaic of M31 with the TMB 80mm refractor.  There were many challenges along the way induced from hazy skies from distant forest fires, and a switch of focal reducer in the middle of the project. Biggest challenge by far were the gradients which are complicated by doing a mosaic and they are also terribly exposed by the nature on M31 itself.  Almost no good nights the entire month of September as M31 marched West. Finally last weekend the skies cleared and the smoke mostly abated so OK data could be acquired.   In the end there is an average of 2.8 hours acquisition for the R,G&B each with R as 300s, B&G as 180s subs.  About 8.3 hours total CLS luminance for each side of the 2 panel mosaic.   Thus the total time  of keepers is 33.4 hours split fairly evenly between the panels. At this stage processed entirely in Pixinsight. It is difficult to post an image of M31 because there are so many amazing ones to be found here. It is sure a fun target to attempt.  I have also acquired quite a bit of Ha data for this mosaic but have not yet decided how to proceed with it.

Description: I had about 4.2 5hours of Ha for each panel of the mosaic and today discovered the subs decided to blend using the easiest manner I could think of using PI... After stretch removed stars from Ha and compressed a bit with HDMI. Then blended using the NB addition script into the previous RGBL. After that using the Ha used in blend as a mask reduced red saturation a bit.
