Description

this delicate 10.3mag SBc galaxy gem in southern Hydra, with its long and delicate arrms, reminds me on a sea lily.
It shows a wealth of details, blue knots of young stars and reddish Hydrogen emission areas of star formation.
About 30 million lightyears away, it's size is about 60.000 lightyears, covering 6.6x4.4 arcmin on our sky.
It was discovered 1884 by known comet discoverer Ernst Wilhelm Tempel.

LRGB with a 10" f/4 Newtonian and ASI294 binned 2x2, Astronomik filters.
