Description

The Andromeda Galaxy also known as Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224 and originally the Andromeda Nebula, is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth and the nearest large galaxy to the Milky Way.

The Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies are expected to collide 💥 in around 4-5 billion years merging to form a giant elliptical galaxy or a large lenticular galaxy.

The other small Galaxy in the bottom right is the M110 which was independently discovered by Caroline Herschel (1784). The suggestion to add the Galaxy to the messier list was done in 1967 making it the last member of the Messier list.

I'm super happy with my first result (after 3 failed attempts)

Constructive criticism is always welcome!! In terms of noise and bad artefacts I ran out of battery in the middle of the night so I didn't have time to do calibration frames 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️
