Canon 500mm on SkyGuider

Description

In an attempt to upgrade my lens but keep as much of my gear universal I purchased a used Canon 500mm f4L IS to be a combo wildlife / astro lens. It is a bit over the weight rating of the little SkyGuider with the rest of the guiding gear attached, but after careful mounting and balancing it seemed to handle it just fine and guiding showed minimal difference with my much lighter 400/5.6L lens. However, it seems to have some coma and/or other distortions. Star shape is not good, not nearly as good as my little 400/5.6L. It is also really touchy to focus, the hardest lens yet. I'm not really pleased, I could have got a bad one. Seems ok for wildlife though, so haven't decided what I will do.
