Description

IC5146, also known as the Cocoon Nebula, is a reflection / emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. In this field you can also see B158, a dark nebula that surrounds the cluster and extends like a tail, leading the viewer to the brightest portion of the image. This area is a star forming region with hundreds of young stellar objects, some of them several times the mass of our own sun.

This image was taken unfiltered, and from a very light polluted location. This is the second light with the Takahashi Epsilon 130D, which is a very fast f/3.3. In order not to blow the stars I had to limit exposures to 30 seconds. And added over 1400 of them, which turned out to be a bit of a preprocessing challenge.
