Description

M63 is a LINER galaxy in a distance of about 29 million light years. It belongs to the M51-group. As a flocculent galaxy, it has little spiral structure in the visible light. In infrared, two distinctive arms can be detected. It is surrounded by star streams, but I only got faint hints of them in the background of this image, buried in large-scale noise. I estimate I will need another 10 hours before I can make them visible here, a project for the next years.
