Description

The Eastern Veil nebula (NGC 6992) in Cygnus is a remnant of a supernova explosion thousands of years ago. As the name implies this is just the eastern part of the nebula which is much bigger and composed of several filamentary sections. The entire nebula covers an area of about 6 times the full Moon.

This image is a combination of narrow band filters with color filters to allow finer details in the nebula while still keeping the color of stars real.
