Description

The Ghost of Cassiopeia.

Taken over several nights during Spetember and October, weather has been pretty poor of late and with a combination of the moon showing itself resulted in an extended project. Another interesting project, involving really playing around with my PP (GIMP, Siril, ASTAP) software to better understand how to manage different aspects of the image. GIMP while not a dedicated AP tool is still capable, just need to understand it.
Had some challenges with Gamma Cas, its very bright and had to do a lot of playing around to ensure that it was not blown up extensively, easy to do if you are not watching carefully. Rather than seperate out the channels (LPS-D1 & LeNhance) and recombine for an RGBHa image I integrated everything together, I was finding that in the RGBHa version Ha was overwhelming the image - something to figure in the future.
Biggest learning is that being selective on when to image and doing good calibration makes a world of difference especially under bortle 7/8 skies.
Hope you like.
