Description

"THE BUBBLE GALAXY"
- Deepfield 3411mm LRGBhA
- Constellation Leo

NGC 3521 is a faint, active barred spiral galaxy with extensive Hubble-type SBdc star forming regions in the constellation of Leo on the ecliptic. It is estimated to be 30 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light-years across.
Due to the irregular halo, a collision with another galaxy is suspected to have taken place. The long spiral arms are irregular and interspersed with gaps, giving them a fuzzy appearance.

Taken with a Planewave CDK 20", focal 3411m, f/6.8 and a FLI Proline 16803 CCD.
18 Lights a 1200s for Luminance, 12x 600s for Luminaz, 8 Lights a 900s for R, 7x 900s Lights G, 12x900s for B and 10 Lights a 1800s hAlpha. This is the current premium image stack for members at iTelescope, Remote Telescope provider, taken at Siding Spring Observatory, Australia.
