Description

Two panel mosaic and also the final last time I use my canon 1300d. Going for the Ra- so much more depth to see... Here’s my first effort at this season’s Milky Way galactic core. There’s a super massive black hole hidden in there that is as massive as more than 4 million of our suns. The black trails are interstellar dust. Large glowing red splotches are areas of hydrogen gas emission nebulae (the largest one on screen left is the lagoon nebula). The yellow star off to the right is Antares , a red supergiant in the constellation Scorpio that can easily be mistaken for Mars because it is bright and red to the naked eye. That’s how it got it’s name: “ant”-ares as in “not”-Mars. I’ll be doing some longer exposures of this area as the colors can pop more... stay tuned. Gotta wait for the new moon.
