Questa estate piovosa ho voluto esplorare un insieme di oggetti mai fatti prima.
Le nebulose oscure.
Questi oggetti sono impossibili da riprendere dalla città, da dove scatto 11 mesi all'anno.
Avevo una lunga lista di nebulose oscure da riprendere, ma il meteo avverso mi ha bloccato il progetto.
Ne ho riprese solo due: la Cocoon, anche se non si può definire nebulosa oscura, ma che ha delle belle polveri intorno, e la Iris.
In questi due casi ho usato una OSC, per ottimizzare al massimo lo scarso tempo a disposizione. E anche contando su un bel cielo scuro (Bortle 3.5 che per me è già tanto).

This rainy summer I wanted to explore a set of objects never made before.
The dark nebulae.
These objects are impossible to shoot from the city, from where I shoot 11 months a year.
I had a long list of dark nebulae to pick up, but adverse weather blocked my project.
I shot only two: the Cocoon nebula, although it cannot be called a dark nebula, but which has beautiful dusts around, and the Iris nebula.
I used an OSC, to maximize the limited time available, and also taking advantage of a beautiful dark sky (Bortle 3.5 which for me is already a lot).

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
