Description

M102 is an edge-on lenticular galaxy in Draco. It is about 50 million light years away.  It is estimated to contain  100 billion stars. This makes the Milky Way puny with only 100-400 million stars. M102 is one of the brightest galaxies in the NGC 5866 group of galaxies.

The prominent dust lane really makes this image. I used Pixinsight for processing and used HDR process to accentuate the dust lane. I also cropped image by about 25% to bring out details.
