Description

I wasn't going to post this image, which is essentially a work in progress.

But three things forced my hand.

1) The local weather.  Having struggled for over a month to even open my observatory shed, I finally got two nights which were sort of OK, albeit with bright moon and some cloud. But now the weather has taken a turn for the worse, and it looks like 2023 before I image again.   Nevertheless, I did get around 7hours in [SII] and Ha on the Horsehead nebula on those nights [only 3.5hours long at present] and it is a joy to be processing new data again.

2) The release of  @Russell Croman BlurXterminator.  Following on from StarXterminator and NoiseXterminator, this is another game changer from Russell.  Like this other software, BlurXterminator, just works.  And works spectacularly.  It has fired all the other deconvolution techniques in PI I have used.  So I couldn't resist trying it out on what new data I had.  [Message to Russell: how about turning your skills to HaloXTerminator or SeamXterminator?]. Residual stellar halos and visible seams in mosaics are the bane of my - admittedly limited - post-processing skills]

3) I haven't seem that many images of the Horsehead with only S and H data.   And SHH is not the most common of combinations.   OK, so this is a pretty poor reason for posting - but its hard to shed new light on a target that it so popular.

While these reasons are pretty weak, a least I can sort of excuse posting my first new image in over a month.  Hope you enjoy - and given the somewhat experimental nature - all comments and observations are welcome.
