Description

I recently had the opportunity to buy a Skywatcher HEQ-5 Pro Goto mount. Obviously I had to test it
I like this galaxy a lot, and I thought it would be an easy target. Later I was proven wrong

Anyway, being the first light with the mount I'm happy with the results. I had a hard time to properly polar align the mount, hence I only could shoot 50s long exposures.

I don't know why I have those vertical stripes. Any suggestions how to remove them either during recording or post processing is welcomed!

I temporarly shared all light and dark files (I had no flats as the ASI 120 has such a small sensor it looks directly at the center of the FOV. so I don't need to compensate much for the vignetting).

Title: Siril and Gimp edit

Description: I've played some more with my image in Siril as I was really not happy with the vertical banding.
To use Siril, it helps a lot not to randomly click on the texts and buttons but to read a tutorial first as to what the heck you should do :D

I used "background extraction", "banding reduction" and "photometric color calibration" in Siril, and after that I played with some more with levels, shadows and highlights, contrast, black level etc. in Gimp.
