Description

NGC76872 and its close-by galaxies are forming the NGC6872 Group with the latter one, often called Condor Galaxy, as its gravitational center. The group consists of NGC 6872, 6876, 6877, 6880, IC4970 and 4981.

That galaxy is supposed to be the largst known galaxy with an estimated length of about 520000LJ. its isophotal diamater is even larger - about 720000LJ.
The distance to Earth is about 212 Mio LJ.
