Description

This flocculent galaxy is located 50 million light-years away in the constellation of Pegasus at a declination of +31 degrees.  It is a magnitude 11.9 galaxy oriented 30 degrees from face-on in our apparent view.  The galaxy has a diameter of 4 arc-minutes, which corresponds to a width of about 60,000 light years.

The galaxy is divided into 3 distinct regions - a bright core, a yellowish flocculent middle region, and a bluish flocculent outer pseudo-ring with several bright blue star clusters. The galaxy has hints of a spiral arm structure throughout.

A wider FOV taken 3 years ago with my refractor is shown here.
