Description

Building up the moon-routine with the C11 (Part II) - Moon Mosaic 99.7% (20 panels)

As mentioned in one of my previous post, I’m trying to build up the routine of imaging with the C11, mainly lunar and planetary.

As a first endeavour, I had set myself the task of building a ‘full’ moon mosaic. With the moon at 99.7%, that made for some nice detailed fringes on the eastern limb

The intention was to get a ‘full’ moon, 20 panels would do it … I thought. Carefully manually navigating across the face of the moon, I thought I had mapped it all. 20 panels in total!

All of the 20 panels turned out well in the processing … 👍

And then came the moment of suspense in the final photomerge. Would Lightroom be able to stitch them all together ?🤞

Oh yes it did 🙌 … including that missing white patch in the middle 🙄

Moon mosaic … 20 panels … but missing 1 patch … the middle 😂

C11 EHD, ASI174MM, CGX-L, IR685-Filter
20 Panels 1080p, 2ms G200, 60s, 25% stacked
AutoStakkert, PixInsight

The full mosaic is 1.3Gb. Image scaled down 30% (110Mb TIF) to be able to post it.

Nothing tried, nothing gained. At least at good start at imaging the moon with the C11. Not bad for a first try, I would say …

Any constructive guidance is welcome
Clear Skies everybody! 🤩✨🔭
