Description

NGC4945 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Centaurus. Discovered by James Dunlop in 1826 from Sydney, Australia, it is 11.7 million light-years from Earth. Imaged from Brisbane, Australia, on 12th May 2023.

Several other galaxies are also in the field of view, with the most prominent being NGC4976, a peculiar elliptical galaxy that is around 41 +/- 17 million light years away.
