Description

This was one of my first DSOs, and I've been wanting to revisit it since trying, and failing miserably, to image it a few years ago. It was more difficult than I thought to process, since there is little to no clear view of background sky.

In the final full resolution version you can make out IC 349 Barnard's Merope Nebula at about the four o'clock position in the outer edge of Merope's halo. A little smudge of a different blue, but it's there. There is also a cute little edge-on galaxy at the top middle of the frame.

I think I pushed the data a little to hard on the first few attempts. I didn't like the noise profile, so I started over and ended here. I lost some of the really faint detail, but it is a trade-off for the improved noise level. You can also just make out IC 349 in this version (full resolution), which is a bonus.
