Description

I'm getting really frustrated with the weather. The sky finally cleared late last night. I wanted to try and image with my Astro Tech AT6RC Ritchey-Chretien that I repaired after a fall from from my mount . I decided that I would try and image M51 because it's relatively bright and it was about as far away from the Moon as I could get. After taking 4 light frames the sky completely clouded over. I decided to keep imaging with the hope that I might get some usable images in between clouds. As it turned out I only got 8 light frames that I could use. As to be expected the noise was horrible. Most of my processing time was spent trying to deal with the noise and still preserve the detail in the object. Louisiana is not noted for exceptional skies but in years past most of the time I could count on a couple of nights a week. For a long time now that has not happened. Enough complaining. Please enjoy my most recent image of M51.

Description: I can't ever leave it alone. There were some things I didn't like about the image that occurred when I was trying to eliminate the noise. I did some reprocessing to improve the image. I hope.
