Description

I spent three hours imaging Jupiter, Saturn and Mars on the evening of 20th Oct, but only four RGB triplets of Mars, in the last half hour, proved at all usable. Turbulent seeing had done for the rest. We really have had a rough trot here this apparition.

Here I used an EFW with the RGB filters, together with an ADC, which I retuned from time to time by swapping out the mono camera for a colour camera with identical pixel size. In fact little adjustment proved necessary and, as a default, using the ADC with the levers set one division either side of the neutral position, is probably OK for much of the time at the moment, here in Canberra for Mars.

Description: Dispensed with most derotation - just synthesised the best image for each of the three colour channels. Seeing was so variable across the runs that it was better to choose the finest images than try to synthesise over time.

Description: I have never been quite satisfied with the appearance of this image. This yet another "final" iteration that attempts to get it right - a slight adjustment to colour balance.
