Description

During my trip to Capetown I took the chance to capture one of the -typically hidden by planet Earth- Objects I have absolutely no chance to capture from my backyard at home. 😉

Processing this was quite fun, capturing it was kind of a struggle though...

After A LOT of trial and error polar aligning, I observed very strong tilt in my first test images, most likely caused by my Lens. I was temporarily able to fix it using some thin cardboard and electrical tape which worked surprisingly well. As soon as I set up my gear again, strong winds came up which I tried to fight by taping a huge rock to my tripod only to figure out the next morning that every single image was out of focus. 😭😂
I didn't give up though and tried again the night after which eventually gave me an hour of useable data, out of like 9 hours or so captured.. 💨

....The conclusion is that I REALLY need a better traveling tripod, polar alignment can be a real pain in the ass in the southern hemisphere, but holy smokes, the southern skies are beautiful. 😉
