Description

First attempt as astrophotography, so still trying to get everything working together. The older EOS 50D isn't great at higher ISO values, even ISO 800 as shot here. The LCD screen also isn't great, hence I'm already using it tethered through N.I.N.A to help with focusing and image review.

I saw the Seven Sisters starting to peek over the top of the mountain behind my house, so set up to take a sequence after also trying to first photograph the Andromeda Galaxy. The striking blues aren't quite there like I've seen on other photos, but I'm happy for a first night of astrophotography in terms of things like polar alignment, telescope focus, and post-processing.

Definitely an object I'll return to. Wondering if a filter to help with emissions would help on objects like this?
