Description

This object is a cluster of galaxies located 370 million light years away in the constellation of Pegasus at a declination of +35 degrees.  This cluster is designated WBL 685 in the Catalog of Nearby Poor Galaxy Clusters.  Poor clusters, in contrast to rich clusters such as the Abell clusters, consist of only a few galaxies.  In this cluster, there are 6 galaxies brighter than magnitude 15.7.

This small cluster is less than 1 degree north of the famous NGC 7331 galaxy, which is located almost 10x closer to us and is not part of this cluster.

Surprisingly, the brightest and biggest galaxy of the cluster is not one of the 2 NGC designated galaxies (NGC 7342 and 7345).  Instead, it is the elliptical galaxy UGC 12127, toward the bottom center of the image.  This galaxy is 170,000 light years in diameter.
