Description

I am a little late to the party for this object as it is setting quickly, so I was only able to get about 2.5 hours.

M27 was the first planetary nebula discovered.  Charles Messier described it as a oval nebula without stars.  William Herschel actually invented the name "Planetary Nebula" in 1784 as it resemble the newly discovered planet, Uranus.  His son, William, came up with "Dumbbell" and compared it to a "double-head shot."
