Voici la dernière étape du marathon de re-traitement, débuté il y a 2 mois, après un crash moto et beaucoup de temps à perdre.
Il s'agit des nébuleuses de la chauve-souris en vol (SH2-129) et du calamar géant (OU4). La chauve-souris (en jaune et rouge) est localisée à 1300 années lumières, dans la constellation de Céphée, alors que le calamar (en bleu au centre) est situé à 2300 années lumières, donc beaucoup plus loin derrière !!
Le tout comptabilise 133 heures d'acquisition, 1600 poses de 300s 376 flats, idem en DarkFlats, 50 darks et 25 offsets.
L'acquisition s'est faite entre le 13/06/2022 et le 12/08/2022 sur 15 nuits.
Étonnamment, la chauve-souris contient beaucoup de Souffre et elle est rarement représentée en SHO (SII, H-Alpha, OIII), mais plutôt en HOO, ce qui est assez dommage quand on voit ces dégradés.

This is the last step of my re-processing marathon, started 2 months ago, after a severe injury due to a motorcycle accident and lots of time to spend.
These are the famous Flying Bat (SH2-129) and Giant Squid (OU4) nebulaes. The Bat (in yellow and red) is located 1300 lightyears away, in the Cepheus Constellation, and the Squid (in blue at the center) is located 2300 lightyears away, much further behind !!
This picture counts 133 hours acquisition, 1600x300 seconds exposures, 376 flats, as well as DarkFlats, 50 Darks and 25 Bias pictures.
Acquisition lasted from 06/13/2022 to 08/12/2022, over 15 nights.
Surprisingly, the bat nebula contains a lot of Sulfur and is rarely pictured in SHO (SII, H-Alpha, OIII) but mainly in HOO, and that's a pity when you see these color gradients !

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
