Description

The first clear sky in a while. I had planned a wider field image of the emission nebulae in Auriga, but for some reason my little RPi4 Stellarmate would not plate solve with my camera lens setup.

A bright moon was so interfering, and with the temperature dropping, I left it to it, taking 3m exposures of the glorious starfield and open clusters in this constellation.

I kept 43/59 frames calibrated and stacked in ASTAP, and processed in Siril. As ever two (or more) versions, as I experiment with different approaches and processes. The background is definitely better in 2x2 binned, and the faint nebulosity shows up.

I will need to use NB when I home in on the flaming star and wonderful emissions that make this such an exciting area to image. Hopefully another opportunity when the moon is on the wane.
