Description

It is possible I might get a clear night today, so I thought I would try and complete this image and get it done, before I probably need to do some more processing tomorrow and over the next day for the next data set - weather depending. Two nights ago I tried to take 4 hours worth of this object, but the weather simply failed me and all I got was 10 subs, each at 2 minutes long exposure time, and 5 of those subs were really not very good at all. So, 20 minutes integration time! I had to be really inventive with dealing with haloes and high murkiness across the image, so that I could get something out of the data. I am pleased with this image for three reasons: (i) I actually got an image on a night when I should not have done, (ii) it is incredible  how fast the Rasa really is, and it still amazes me... even though I've used it a few times now, and (iii) this picture looks more like something that takes around 5 hours integration time, based on a comparable picture from several years ago, when I had a lowly 8 inch f4 Newtonian. I would like to think my processing skills have improved since those days, but even so, the Rasa has been the best purchase I have ever made, astronomy-wise. I hope you all agree. Many thanks everyone and I hope you are well.
