Description

The beautiful M78 blue reflection nebula surrounded by a section of the lovely red Barnard’s loop. Located in the Constellation of Orion which is beginning it winter appearance in our skies.
I love Messier 78 very much for its incredibly complex dust clouds and pretty blue color but it is a great challenge to process as dark dust can easily turn to noise. I have always wanted to capture the red nebulous loop as well, so I used a quite wide field camera view . I just love the two together!!
Both nebula are part of the Orion B molecular cloud complex, which also contains the dark Horsehead and bright Orion nebulae about 1,350 light-years distant from Earth.
