Description

I would like to try to photographically document the nova of the cataclysmically variable binary star T CrB, which is announced for 2024.
T Coronae Borealis is the reddish star in the center of the image, it is classified as a red giant and has a white dwarf companion that orbits it very closely. And so close (0.54 AU) that the white dwarf can continuously withdraw hydrogen from the red giant. About every 80 years the dwarf reaches a critical mass, causing a nova explosion. Due to the typical brightness fluctuations just before exploding, this recurring event has been forecast for 2024, by September at the latest, during which the star will shine very brightly for a few days.
I hope I'm lucky enough to capture this event, the picture shown is close before going nova.
