Description

Here is a 2 frame mosaic of the crescent moon on the evening of August 4th, 2022.  These are the first light images taken with my new QHYCCD 533M camera which I purchased at AIC in May.  The scope used was my late 1980's vintage fork mounted Celestron Ultima 11" SCT.  The moon was low in the sky but the seeing was very good.  The original C11 SCTs have a small fully corrected field, and the chip in the 533M is large enough that there are areas in this mosaic that were near the edge of the chip and are noticeably soft.  I didn't set out to make a mosaic, but when I saw that I could put two of the images together (mostly) seamlessly, I couldn't resist.  The northern image was shot through a near IR filter, and the southern image was shot through a red filter.  The images were blended into the mosaic in Photoshop.
