Description

When my wife and I got married, we couldn't really afford to go on a honeymoon.  My aunt was working as a wedding coordinator at a resort in Key West, and she gave us a week's stay in that resort as a wedding present.  We spent our afternoons sitting on the beach fascinated by the pelicans.  Since then, pelicans always remind us of that time we had in Key West.  So, it is no surprise that the Pelican Nebula is one of my absolute favorite objects.  I have shot it every summer since I started, and each time I think it gets a little better.

This time, I shot a 2 panel mosaic in HORGB.  I combined the RGB and stretched it, then combined the starless H and O images, trying to get as close to the actual emission line colors as possible (It can't be perfect because the emission line colors are actually outside of the sRGB space).  I then combined the RGB and HOO images together and this is the result.

Please take a look at this in full resolution.  I was really happy with the detail that I got, especially around the Herbig Haro object HH555.
