Description

Spanning nearly 270 degrees this panorama shows five prominent galaxies : the large and small Magellanic clouds to the left, the arch of the Milky Way Galaxy in the centre  and to the right the Andromeda and Triangulum Galaxies.  The bright green glow the right is the light pollution dome from the city of Brisbane with a population of 2.5 million  (my shooting location was 100km / 60 miles from the outskirts of  the city).

For this shoot I used a Central DS modified & cooled Canon 6D, a Sigma 50mm F/1.4 Art lens at F/2.8 mounted on a SkyWatcher Allview Alt-Az panoramic mount, which itself was mounted on a SkyWatcher EQ6-R equatorial tracking mount.   The AllView mount was programmed to take 5 rows of 13 images - 65 in all.  Exposure time was 20 seconds at ISO 4000.
The images were stitched in PTGui Pro 12 and final editing in Photoshop.
