Description

Planetary Nebula Jones 1 also known as PK 104-29.1 located in the Pegasus Constellation.

First light for my new field flattener (Long Perng 1.0x with 48mm threads) for my ED127 to clean up the stars in my images. I placed it between the Rotator and the Filter Wheel. Luckily, I had the right adapters to put it together as my bag of adapters keeps growing and now consumes a 2.5 gallon zip lock baggie.

However, after Polar Alignment, I couldn't achieve focus and ended up removing one of the Explore Scientific 1.5 inch spacers to bring it in. After tearing down and reconfiguring the telescope 3 times in the dark, I didn't feel like doing another Polar Alignment and went straight to imaging and the auto guiding was just good enough to keep going. I lost about 90 minutes of imaging time figuring it all out but that's about par for adding new equipment to the image train.

Still, I'm very pleased with the result.

If you zoom in on the PN, you can see the Progenitor as a purple-ish colored star. Centrally located and easy to spot from the others. Most progenitor stars are BLUE but since I captured in HO narrowband it came out as purple. Thanks to @Gary Imm for concluding this fact.

Thanks, Eddie
