Description

My second LRGB target really turned into my first RGB target. I gave CenA the full LRGB treatment, but was disappointed to see that my L stars were even more like rugby balls (e=0.75 compared to e=0.45 for the RGB) than my Antennae image.

The first image is with the L and the second (revised) image is without. The LRGB image goes deeper, but at the expense of colour and image quality. If I were better at preprocessing, I might know how to fix this, but I think that I might just be ditching the L filter from now on.

I didn't go long enough to reveal the "Malin" shells of the galaxy, but I did pick up the optical jet.

Again perhaps more post-processing might work here - but even with judicious masking - all the usual algorithms (LHE, MLT, USM) all failed to help me.

In all cases, less was more with Cen A.

R: 20 x 120s

G: 20 x 120s

B: 20 x 120s
